About Fernie Youth Services
Fernie Youth Services gives opportunities to young people that have been given up on, often based on their position in society. They provide residential, employment readiness, and community reintegration programming to at-risk youth across the Greater Toronto Area, transforming their lives and creating safer communities for a lifetime.

Project Details

In celebration of its 50th anniversary in 2014, Fernie House consulted Haft2 on a rebrand. The rebrand included brand positioning and architecture, visual identity and brand standards to reflect the expansion of services and growth of the organization.

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Haft2 was engaged  to rebrand Fernie House in 2013. The rebrand included brand positioning and architecture, visual identity and brand standards to reflect the expansion of services and growth of the organization.

Solution

After interviews with board members, staff, and the youth who participate in Fernie programs, a competitive audit of like community organizations was performed. The resulting brand essence strategy and brand architecture was shared throughout the organization and became the foundation for creative development. Working collaboratively with Fernie House, Haft2 recommended the name change to Fernie Youth. A colour strategy was also recommended based on 2015/16 Color Marketing Group forecasts and research.

Working collaboratively with Fernie House, Haft2 recommended the name change to Fernie Youth. The new visual identity included a logo, tagline, colour strategy and other visual elements fonts, graphics and photography standards.

Results

The new identity successfully reflected new programming and allowed for the formation of Fernie Foundation, a key component to encourage funding for other new Fernie programs such as Fernie Youth Works.

The new brand architecture and visual identity successfully reflected new programming and allowed for the formation of Fernie Foundation, a key component to encourage funding for other new Fernie programs such as Fernie Youth Works. In 2023 the organization has continued to grow and support youth and the community.
