Obsidian
Ah, June! Long days and short nights. Towards month’s end, soon after the summer solstice, the last supermoon of the year will glow in an obsidian sky.
Obsidian! What a great name for a colour! It’s not merely another name for black. Taking its name from the semi-precious volcanic glass – which isn’t always, well, obsidian in colour – the colour obsidian is always a deep grey-blue.
Want to create the colour? Use blue – not white – to lighten and soften basic black to produce the enigmatic and mysterious obsidian.
