Bloody Beautiful

This weekend, why not consider a last minute dinner party inspired by this frightening, but gorgeous room. Showcase TV in the U.S. created this interior for an issue of Metropolitan Home, in order to promote their show, Dexter. (In case you couldn't tell, the show's about a serial killer.)

For those that wish to take it one step further, dress your bathroom in these crime scene inspired accessories - pictured below and created as a nod to fright lovers, film buffs and design aficionados alike.

Here's the macabre link for these pieces

Eternal Thirst

Every ten years or so, interest in vampires makes a comeback into the collective trendthirst. Bela Lugosi, Anne Rice, Stephenie Meyer with her Twilight series, beautiful Anna Paquin in her new Southern Gothic nosferatic drama, True Blood - the list drips on.

Well to help quench the thirst of those who can't get enough, here's the perfect accessory to your presence at this year's Halloween party. Blood Energy Potion is a sugar beverage that's packaged - well it's packaged like that. It has an entire campaign, website and social media presence designed for it. And with barely a disclaimer (it's there if you look for it) the makers of this plasma sac walk a fine line, and do so cleverly.

Livingwithbloodlust.com is really the name of this site

And finally...

One final story here that's truly bordering on frightening (or brilliant). Walmart now sells caskets online, along with a number of other funerary urns, vessels and pillows on which to rest your eternal head. For real. Here's the link.

Happy Halloween from all of us at Haft2.

Nothing says Halloween like purple cabbage and beet juice

A true and venerable staple on the American confectionary scene, Necco Wafers have been around since 1847. Today, four billion of them are made every year - enough to wrap around the world twice if placed edge to edge.

The original wafer recipe has remained virtually unchanged since their invention years ago, but consumer trends have led Necco (The New England Confectionary Company) to reconsider the make-up of these little gems. And so for the first time, Necco wafers will now start to be made with only natural ingredients.

The list of new natural ingredients now includes beet juice, purple cabbage, cocoa powder and turmeric. Likewise, pastel greens and purple shades have been replaced with brown, yellow, taupe, pink and grey.

Time Capsule

Move over, Kryogenics. Swiss DNA Bank offers a different way to be immortalized.

'Perpetual docs management' is how this company describes what they do. It's an infinite time capsule, and for a one-time starting fee of about $300 USD you'll receive a kit in the mail that will allow you to submit to the capsule any data you may wish - photos, music, stories, your cat's pointilist pieces - as well as your own DNA. And there it will sit in perpetuum below the Swiss Alps, allowing future generations of your own family not only to remember you, but clone one of your own offspring to be your genetic twin.

1826 Days From Now

Our friends at Compendium Inc. have a way of combining colour and words that'll make you blink, think and reflect. A recent release of theirs is The Five Book - a collection of text and thought inspiring you to ask yourself some real questions, namely - where will you be in five years? And what will you have done between now and then? Give the little vid a watch. And then think about it.

The link is here. Very cool.

Ed Hardy Hand Sanitizer

Ed Hardy is everywhere. You can now buy wallets and thermoses and umbrellas and briefs emblazoned with the tattoo-ine graphics that the company has come to represent. And company president Christian Autigier is ensuring that his brand isn't disappearing any time soon.

And so with a drum-roll and respectful nod to truly perfect timing, I'm pleased to announce the release of Ed Hardy Hand Sanitizer. Brilliant and a little opportunistic, it comes at a time when the entire Western world will be scrubbing everything clean, in the hopes of keeping at bay, nasty flu germs. Very smart.

Probably best to wash your hands first, before clicking the link here
