One smile at a time...

wal-martrally.jpg

Good Magazine recently reported this about Sam Walton's family business. The combined area of all of the Wal-Mart stores in the world is 18,810 acres, while the island of Manhattan covers roughly 15,000 acres. NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg has denied rumours that the city will be hiring smiley greeters to stand and wave on the Brooklyn Bridge.

ALL NEW!!!

diamond-shreddies-pack.jpg

This ad campaign pretty well speaks for itself. According to the website, Diamond Shreddies are the result of "recent advances in cereal technology." There's a series of commercials that shows focus group participants weighing in on this innovative food marvel. All focus groups portrayed and opinions shown are genuine. Someone took a chance with this one and I imagine it will pay off.

Smell You Later

Taking communication to an entirely new level, Nokia recently unveiled their 'Scentsory' phone. Sensors within the device will detect how a caller smells at that moment and then emit that experience to you. Also transmitted will be light levels, colours and the temperature from the caller's environment. It'll probably make you want to brush your teeth and clean your house before taking a call.

It's a Small World

Picture 1.png
In his quest to make Dubai the "best at everything", Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid recently unveiled his city's latest geography-altering ambitions. It's called The Universe and in size, it will exceed the city's current project entitled The World - a collection of over 200 man-made private and public islands being formed off Dubai's sandy coast. The Universe will feature larger land masses built in the shapes of our closest celestial bodies - the sun, moon, planets and our galaxy. Due for completion around 2025, its ultimate size will depend on demand for island space, which so far, has proved high in this marble and glass oasis.

Can'tburger

whopperfreakout013108.jpg

Burger King recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Whopper with a new campaign entitled "Whopper Freakout". The documentary style spots were conceived by Miami ad heads Crispin, Porter + Bogusky and show BK customers being told that the Whopper has been discontinued. Customers' ensuing reactions clearly reflected the fear of TV viewers, who drove Whopper sales up by double digits over the previous year's sales.
